Don’t worry if you start uni and suddenly realise that the course you wish to study is not what you expected. You’re still in time to change and you can do so without having to pay if you take action before the census date. The census date changes every semester but it’s approximately a month into your degree, so if you started at the beginning of March, the census date will most likely be March 31st,allowing you a full month to get a feel for your course and units without having to commit your time (and money!). You may use this to re-enrol in another degree or drop out until the following semester or year, giving you plenty of time to rethink your decision. To follow this process, every university has in place a different system so you should contact your institution directly.
You might be put in touch with a course advisor if you’re thinking of changing or dropping out. This person will know all about your course, and will be able to help you explore your options and consider what path to take.
Did you know that if you still want to complete your course but have to drop out due to illness or financial difficulty you can defer your course until the following year? This means that a spot will be saved for you! For more info, you should contact the institution you’re interested in.
